Step-By-Step Guide to Adding Google Analytics
1. Access Applications Menu:
Hover over the navigation bar to the left of the dashboard and select 'Analytics’.
2. Initiate New Integration:
Click '+ Add New' from the top of the page.
3. Select Google Analytics Integration:
From the list, select the Google Analytics integration and then click 'Continue'.
4. Authenticate Your Google Account:
An authentication window will appear, prompting you to log into your Google account. Follow the instructions to grant our dashboard access to your account.
5. Select Analytics Version and Property:
In the provided fields, choose the version of Google Analytics that corresponds with your account. V3 is for older accounts, while V4 is for newer ones. Additionally, select a 'Property' and a 'Property View' within your Google Analytics account. After making these selections, click 'Continue'.
Note: 'Properties' in Google Analytics are where your data is collected, and 'Views' let you create filtered perspectives of your data.
6. Verify Google Analytics Account:
Check the integration of your Google Analytics account by accessing the Google Analytics tab at the top of the page. On the right side of the page, you should see an icon that reads ID. Hover over this to confirm your account ID.
Navigating Through Google Analytics
Upon Integrating Google Analytics, you'll observe three sub-tabs, with the "Overview" tab being the first and active one.
1. Overview
This tab is segmented into multiple sections.
Sessions
Your total number of sessions is displayed boldly next to the icon at the top. Below this, a bar chart visualizes the frequency of sessions on your website, using the X-axis for dates and the Y-axis for counts.
Users
This section, similar in structure, maintains a daily record of unique users visiting your site, illustrated through a bar graph.
Page Views
Similar to the above sections, this bar graph provides daily data on the individual page views your site attracts.
Bounce Rate
This metric monitors your daily bounce rate, which is classified as an instance when a user visits only a single page or fails to perform a campaign's intended action upon reaching your site.
Session Duration
This graph depicts the average session length per day, indicating the duration a user spends on your website.
Referrals
At the bottom, you can find a list of the most prevalent sources driving traffic to your website, which could include search engines, social media, funnel landing pages, and more.
2. Browsers & OSs
This tab offers insights into the number of views your page receives from different internet browsers and operating systems.
On the left side, a pie chart represents all your visitors, partitioned and color-coded to indicate the percentage of users that utilize a particular browser or OS, with the total count displayed in the center.
The right side further dissects each browser by user numbers. Hovering over the bar will reveal the precise count, providing an alternative to reading the graph.
Both the Browsers and Operating Systems sections allow you to toggle between Graph mode and Table mode using the icons in the top right corner of each section.
3. Geolocation
The final tab offers a geographic distribution of your website's stats.
Sessions, Users, or Page Views can be selected from the dropdown menu in the top-right corner. Each metric is assigned a specific color, which is reflected on the map as you alternate between metrics.
Hovering over a location on the map discloses the count for the selected statistic in that area. This count is also represented next to the color bar in the top-right corner.
Numbers are also displayed by country at the bottoms of the page showing the country, sessions, users, and page views in a chart.
